I have been to Bedok bus interchange many times. I always get there by No. 196 and as soon as I get there, I go directly to the MRT station.

Sometimes I was so busy that I did notice the surroundings. However, when I just went for a shopping trip in the area, I had some time to look around, to explore the things of the bus interchange and get to know the local people. Therefore, I found it was interesting.

The Bedok bus interchange gives me a deep impression. It is very typical. Busy people going quickly to their destinations, buses going in and out, and many shops are full of people.

There were many kinds of people in the bus interchange: students, workers, businessman, hawker, couple, foreign tourists and so on. Some of them were young, some were old, and some were in their middle ages. They were all very busy. Some were talking on their handphone rapidly; I stared in amazement at their flapping lips as they sprayed spittle that sparkled in the sunshine. Some were reading newspaper. Their eyes scanned the news seriously. Some bought food from the shop hurriedly and it looks as if they were going to have a meeting and had no time to eat dinner. Some school boys have untidy hairstyles while others are well-combed. Some people wore gaudy T-shirts while others were very elegantly dressed.

Different sounds can be heard in the bus interchange. The sharpest noise came from the buses screeching to a shop. There are sounds from different footsteps, which include the melodious sound of women’s high heel shoes, the heavy sound of workers’ boots, the soft sound of students’ basketball shoes, and the thudding sound of the businessmen’ leather shoes. There are different tones and sounds from people’s conversations, such as worried questions, angry shouting and happy laughter.

Furthermore, I could smell a lot of scents. The strong smell of the perfume from the women wafted into my nose quickly. As well as the smell of petrol that from buses and the smell of cigarettes. When I passed the shops and the hawker center in the bus interchange, I could catch fragrance of delicious food floating in the air. The marvellous smell of steam, the smell of pork, the smell of fruits, the smell of oil and the chicken rice smell was so tempting that I couldn’t wait to taste it.

I like bus interchange because local people’s lifestyles are shown to me there. I can get to know them well by observing them. It is really an interesting thing.
