Among all the teachers that I had, she may be a very ordinary teacher, but she really left a deep impression on me. She is my first English teacher in primary school. I always address her as “Mrs. Wang”. She is tall and very fat. The first time that I met her, I thought she is very formidable. During her lessons, she often spits in the classroom, so all of us were very disgruntled about this. However, nobody dared to blame her. In addition, she always teaches very fast in her lessons. After she enters into the classroom, she only takes about ten minutes to finish a unit. Then she will stand there, and scold the students.

She often scolds the students who read English badly though they did not make any mistakes. Because of the rapid teaching of every lesson, none of us can understand the lesson. However, when she asks us question, she often says, “Too easy.”(It is only for her.) Therefore, every time when one of us answers her question wrongly, she would be very angry and scold him/her severely. After that, she always praises her favourite student who is in another class named “Wu Yu”. Because he had studied in Canada for four years, his English is very good. She often compares us with him; if we were worse, she would scold us. Therefore, we all hated her at that time. Nevertheless, one incident let me change my perception of her.

When I was in Grade 5, our school held an activity, where we choose the best student of each grade. Obviously, “Yang Yang” in our class should be the best student of our grade since he was top in every subject. However, there was strong competition between two top student. One is Yang Yang and the other is Wu Yu. Therefore, our school chose one day to let us to vote for the best student among these two. We had voted for three times, but they was a tie for all the three voting. Therefore, it was very difficult to decide. At last, our principal decided to let the teachers take part in the voting. There were five teachers, so it was impossible that their votes would be tie again. Two teachers voted for Yang Yang, and two teachers voted for Wu Yu. The key decision would made by our English teacher. All of us were very nervous at that time, because we all knew that she should vote for Wu Yu who is her favourite student of our grade. To our surprise, she voted for Yang Yang.

After that, our civics teacher asked her why she voted for Yang Yang, she said: “Because Yang Yang is really better than Wu Yu although his English study is not very well, I voted for him because I think he should be our best student.”

Many days later, when our civics teacher told it to us, all of us changed our attitude of her. In addition, because of this event, she left a deep impression on me which made me learn that people do not always behave in the manner that we expect them to be.
